I'm pretty sure Kinguin announces himself as Dread Mage every time he goes to any social function, or when working in his unofficial capacity as a pirate. Athco largely just roll their eyes at him; Mage Jim gets a dose of Mjollnir.

As for the city management game, yes, it begins as soon as the gates slam behind Atheme when he leaves for Arkalen prior to the Vaelius novel. The game is called "I Am Empor!" Will Kinguin be a benevolent dictator, or a ruthless despot? You decide! Plays largely like Sim City, only the city is prebuilt and most of your toolbar is various natural disasters. There will also be action levels interspersed where you must either conquer Itrius, or quash rebellions, depending on play style. A secret ending will involve the creation of Mobile Castle Felthespar, who will be fully playable on NG+.

By "most of your toolbar is various natural disasters" do you mean "weather spells Kinguin knows"?

Well, there will be your various sundry effects like tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes, but also things like rampant fires, shadow dragon attacks, marching armies of Heraldic Automatons, Ultima, and so on.

When you say "Benevolent Dictator", you mean "Ruthless Despot", right?

Ah man, Athco. Brings me back, man.

Resident Evil 7 is actually really fun. A more combat oriented and slightly less scary/tense Alien Isolation.

Shadow of the Colossus makes me cry, man. I'm watching a speedrun and I'm depressed now.

Tried playing DOOM but couldn't really get into it mostly because of how much I hate the Glory Kill system. Neat the first couple of times but it got old real quick. Soundtrack is amazing though.

Got around to playing Deus Ex Human Revolution. While good, it definitely has a problem with awarding too much experience. Got all the good stuff for sneaking a while ago and don't know what to do with all these extra upgrade points since the other upgrades are either useless or more suited for combat. Randomized dialog results is pretty dumb too.

I decided I needed an emotional break from the Souls series because it's hard, and hates you.

So I'm playing Horizon: Zero Dawn. Or Robot Dinosaur Hunter 2017, as it should be called. I'm currently playing on Very Hard mode, as is my way. It's going pretty well... of course, I'm already trying to plan out a Very Hard NUR... so clearly I still have problems. Even my "breaks" arent good enough.

I actually think a Very Hard NUR of this game could be quite difficult. I dont know what the latter game content winds up being like, but I know that some of the early game story missions are *surprisingly* difficult for what I had assumed was going to be a mainstream casual game for casuals.

That said, the hardest parts of the game have still proven to be, by and far, the optional content. So I *THINK* a "story-missions only" path could still be pretty reasonable (again, not having seen the latter endgame missions yet). The part I'm struggling with is whether or not I'm going to buy additional weapons in my run.

The game forces you to pick up certain weapons at certain story checkpoints... so in theory you should have enough to get by. It would at least be *interesting* to see what the game considers the "minimal necessary arsenal" to beat it... although without upgrades, AND on Very Hard... that might all add up to a real nightmare for the endgame content. I really dont know.

I finished my no upgrade run of Horizon: Zero Dawn on Very Hard. It was... just the right amount of challenge, I think. Really difficult, but there was no part where you had to be like, incredibly perfect for long stretches of time. The final boss has a checkpoint every 25% health, so... that made what would've otherwise been a maybe impossible part of the game become quite manageable.

I hand-held my friend with DaS3's DLCs and Ni-Oh. Slapped his spit in T7 (and will continue to). I still need to get around to working out save scumming for my DaS2 run (things won't take off until I square away Darklurker as the first boss). Once that run is done, I can move on to the NG+ version where I can do whatever. Then comes SotFS, where I may go after DLC areas as quickly as I can get to them (would need to plan that out, I suppose). The NG+ version would also have no real limits.

Once DaS2 is squared away (as is the case with DaS1 already), I can return to DaS3 to do 'final patch' (and finally work with the DLCs). Then I'll probably go back to DeS (and properly learn it). Likely v1.00. Probably with some troublesome area order (maybe the VoD first, but part of that is for a desired tool early on, I believe). Don't know that game very well, so it should be a major learning experience of even basics. BB will be last. I think I'll do v1.00 and final patch. The former will piss me off with the long load times. The latter will give me the DLC areas. I will have to examine the patch notes to see if enough changes to warrant two runs though.

I have Ni-Oh, but won't likely work with it for a long while (need to do my own vanilla and then challenge run work). Still have Mad Max (same concerns). ME:SoM...I did a lot for. Didn't finish all my plans, but close enough. SoW will get similar treatment. Still have to freshen up on my old GoW:A run, continue the testing/naming and begin proper challenge runs (so I can evaluate SBK's write-up from 2+ years ago). Probably won't return to Dead Space 2, sadly (run forever unfinished for losing my old notes). RDR is done, but RDR2 might warrant another No-Gun NUR+.

With my old save data for DaS2:SotFS lost, the NG to NG+7 plans are long gone. Still have to finish a run with Legend of Mana (correcting the distant past where the disc wouldn't let me finish). Need to eventually return to DI to suffer properly in Fresh VH NUR+ (maybe PAIN+) Evil ONLY. NG has lots of work left to be done with the two Sigmas I have. Should probably return to DMC3 (at least) to do proper work. Heavenly Sword...if the input issues aren't so awful, I'd like to get capable enough to do work with it (though not a great playing title).

Not sure I'll bother getting Armor King to "Tekken God" (seems each is taking longer than the last, but the many losses on the record from going to sleep *and unpausing the game* might have something to do with this). I'd like to have learned Murduk, but I won't even get to use him in T7. Shame. MKX never did come out with Rain, so fork it.

NOTE: Had a nephew and niece playing DaS1. They would do better with longer sessions to keep playing (too much time spent on remembering controls). Easy enough to make them an absurdly tanky poise monster (with super high stability and huge damage. DeS would probably be more about hanging back and poofing problems away. Not sure how easily I could guide them (as new players) with DaS2, DaS3 and BB.
