Posted the descriptions into the original post. These are hobbled together from multiple official and unofficial sources on the internet, and then also tweaked with some original definitions provided by us (such as TCE).

Death, like Peace, is now True Neutral. They're very similar at this point. Peace dislikes extremes and is afraid they all lead to conflict. Death thinks all extremes are a waste of time because it all ends up the same regardless. Death is probably best described as "nihilistic", which I'd say is somewhere between N and TN, but True Neutral seems to be the closest fit for it.

Now I'm going to go through all of our exception cases where we couldn't boil them down to a single alignment, and note why:

Atheme: CG -> LG/NG

As our main protagonist, it makes sense that Atheme would be a complicated character. At his core, he is a Chaotic Good character. To Atheme nothing matters more than personal freedoms and the pursuit of good, as a concept, and for everyone. As a leader he recognizes that he has to make certain sacrifices and use the law to its fullest. But Atheme would never talk down to any normal citizen, nor tolerate anyone else in Feltherspar's government doing so. At his core, he's still always the "Rebel".

So while he serves as a leader, he has some Lawful Good tendencies. But he is never fully Lawful Good, and often behaves as Neutral Good (because of his true Chaotic Good nature). The primary example for this can be seen in the third novel. After Atheme takes the armies down to Arkalen and helps them fend off the hellspawn invasion, he doesn't try to claim any sort of recompense for this. He goes out of his way to make it clear to Detria that Felthespar isn't conquering Arkalen or becoming a permanent presence, they're just dedicated to stopping the Vaelius threat and saving lives. This is a decisively non-LG decision, as Felthespar *is* an imperial nation that's big on conquering. Basically, Atheme switches between LG and NG as he feels the situation dictates. He's married to Felthespar's law as Lord Council, but he also tends to "cast off" his role as Lord Councilor when he feels the need.

Abaddon - CE -> NG

Abaddon is definitely CE, and always has CE tendencies. His main desires are for carnage and war. There's an unmistakable amount of "wants to watch the world burn" to him. However, because of his relationship with Atheme, he develops a desire to use his CE nature for the greater good, and always tries to act as such. He's not dedicated to the law, so he's not LG, and he's not particularly dedicated to personal freedom, so he's not CG. His personal philosophy continues to be to use his Chaotic Evil nature "for the greater good".

One of the best examples of Abaddon's conflicting nature is when he faces Dark Cildar. Abaddon is easily able to overpower Dark Cildar, and has several options available to him. He could try to defeat the man and capture him, so they could try to save him (as Myris does). Or he could simply beat him and then release him, while focusing on his mission, hoping that Cildar can be saved later. But at his core Abaddon is still CE, and he chooses instead to kill Dark Cildar "because he wants to". No truly good character of any alignment would make this decision in this situation.

Karice - LN/NG

Karice is primarily a Lawful Neutral character. At her core, she is dedicated to her personal belief structure among anything else. It just so happens that her personal belief structure aligns very closely with what would be defined as "Neutral Good". So Karice is dedicated to helping others, and doing good, but it's because that's part of her disciplined nature, not because she's personally passionate about good itself. Karice is fairly cold and calculating, and if put in a situation where her Good nature was at conflict with her Lawful nature, she would make the decision that aligned with her Lawful nature with very little uncertainty.

Zynex - CN -> N

Zynex is Chaotic Neutral at his core, and does whatever he wants whenever he wants with very little consideration of others. He has no hard loyalties, and his friendships are mostly superficial. That said, he behaves primarily as a Neutral character in his service of Felthespar. This is because at this time, there's no conflict between what Zynex wants to do and what Felthespar asks of him. He serves on the Military Council and loves his position as the Lord of Archers, considering it a worthy reflection of his awesomeness. Kulara's a pretty lax general in certain ways, and gives Zynex a lot of leeway to just do things his own way. So for as long as that situation holds, Zynex will behave as Neutral. However, if there is ever a conflict of interests, or if Kulara is replaced as General, in all likelihood Zynex will leave Felthespar at that point to pursue a different lifestyle.

Vesovius - LG/NE

Vesovius is a Lawful Good character, but also exhibits traits of Neutral Evil because he is a selfish power-gatherer, and does not have the moral conscience of some other ruling characters. Vesovius will ultimately serve the greater good for his people in his role, but it's important to him to *be* in that role. If his position were to come under threat, he'd start a civil war if he had to in order to hold his position, and if he thought he could use it to gain more power he'd start one anyway. Ultimately it's only his cowardice that keeps him from standing up to hybrid politician/warriors like Leprue and Atheme.

Detria - CN -> CG -> LN

A complicated one. Detria is a Chaotic Neutral character (a free-spirited, unaffected adventurer, or at least someone who wants to be) who gets forced into a role of being a benevolent benefactor (Chaotic Good) by those around her, and through various circumstances (including the death of a loved one), she tries to evolve and forces herself to live up to that role even though she never truly wants it. Then, her continuing evolution takes her into a role of being the Empress of an entire continent, a burden that she cant escape and cant shirk, and so, as part of her new Chaotic Good benefactor personality she tries to force herself, for the sake of her people, to become a Lawful Neutral leader and build a fair and just government from what little remains of human society in Arkalen.

Ultimately, though, Detria's core nature never changes, as can be seen at the end of the final novel, when she is more excited by the notion of going on another adventure with Abaddon than anything else. Even as Empress, she is always a Chaotic Neutral adventurer.

Deun - LG -> N

Deun takes the "A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished" to its extreme. That is his core character motivation, he just fixates on the Overlord above all other things. This causes him to act as a N character in his pursuit of the Overlord, ostensibly unburdened from all other loyalties and motivations.

Zekraul - NE/LE

Zekraul is a Neutral Evil character when acting as an independent agent, but ultimately has aspirations of Lawful Evil. However, where Lawful Evil characters are predictable and trustworthy, adhering to certain moral codes, Zekraul is not. Zekraul is only interested in Lawful Evil to the degree that he wants to create a new Lawful Evil society, as long as he is the one on top of the hierarchy.

Tessena - NG -> LE

Tessena was primarily a Neutral Good character, and her entire core motivation was for the improvement of the lot of human slaves under the Overlord's control. But in order to rise up through the ranks in the Overlord's Keep, she was forced to operate as a Lawful Evil character. Tessena's behavior adequately represents the Lawful Evil statement "while they typically obey their superiors and keep their word (trustworthy), they care nothing for the rights and freedoms of other individuals", but in truth she still held deeper motivations, just for the protection of her people alone. Operating as a general of the Overlord, she often disregarded the rights and lives of demonspawn.

Lejes - NE -> LE

Lejes is a Neutral Evil character acting as a Lawful Evil character because he was given power by a god. Being thrust into the role of "Amsedon" is much the same as being thrust into the role of Lord Councilor or Empress for other characters, and causes Lejes to put on a guise of lawfulness and aligning with his peoples' traditions, even if it's contrary to his personal core.

Eldin - CN -> TLG (LG post-death)

Eldin is a Chaotic Neutral character, primarily "individualist", but also "self-centered". After his ascension to godhood he behaves as a True Lawful Good character because he is enacting the will of Pecoros. But this is primarily still for selfish reasons, as he's acting in this regard *just* for the power that he gains from it, so it still serves his core Chaotic Neutral tendencies.

After his death, Eldin moderates these two positions somewhat, becoming a Lawful Good character who really is concerned with the betterment of others. However... this transformation somewhat doesn't count, because he's only able to primarily care from others at that point because he's *dead*, so he's no longer capable of caring for himself first and foremost. We included it as a note for completion's sake, but essentially Eldin's true alignment would simply be CN -> TLG.

Asha - CG -> LN

Asha behaves as a Lawful Neutral creature because Melukah is Lawful Neutral, and it is Asha's role to serve as Melukah's proxy. However, deep down Asha is actually kinder and more benevolent than the Wisdom. At the end of the day he wants to be more like how Cildar and Myris operate in Novel 3, wandering adventures just doing things for the greater good, seeking injustice and stamping it down.

So hopefully there's more work to come. Onionknight wants to flesh out the geography section for a bit, and I want to add a section on artifacts maybe, but since no one's going to be reading it except for Cren *anyway*, I figure now's as good of a time as ever to FINALLY release the actual Field Guide 3.0:

Going to take a while to get through it, but it's great to have an updated field guide.

If we were to ever do a sequel to our children's book, that'd be a great place to start.

Well, since the villains in my actual project suddenly turned into Nazis, I'm fine dumping it for "Mecha Timecops: The Adventures of Asha and Jidebizzn ft. DogBoy"
"It's either 'your mom' jokes or me."
"Then I, like so many men before me, must reluctantly choose your mom."
